Thursday, 17 January 2019 - The 3-day Consultation and Workshop sessions on developing a Curriculum Package for supporting students with high support needs concluded on Thursday afternoon with a Closing Ceremony held at the Dewan Pencapaian at the Civil Service Institute in Rimba, Gadong.
Attending the Closing Ceremony were 75 participants consisting of Special Education Needs Assistance (SENA) Teachers, officers from the Special Education Unit and a representative from both SMARTER and Pusat Ehsan. Also present at the Closing Ceremony was Yang Mulia, Ali Yusri Bin Abdul Ghafor, Acting Head of Special Education Unit, Ministry of Education.
The Closing Ceremony began with the invited consultant, Yang Berusaha, Professor Madya Dr. Hasnah binti Toran summarising the deliberations of the 3-day consultation sessions and workshop. This was followed by a sharing session from a participant who presented her reflections and feedback regarding the 3-day training sessions. Certificates of Participation were then presented to all participants and representatives by Yang Mulia, Ali Yusri Bin Abdul Ghafor.
The 3-day Consultation and Workshop sessions were organised by Special Education Unit, Ministry of Education and took place between 15th and 17th January 2019. The initial Consultation session focused on reviewing the proposed Curriculum Guidelines which were prepared as part of the Curriculum Package for students with high support needs by Special Education Unit. The subsequent Workshop sessions set out to impart knowledge and awareness on the necessary skills required to support students with high support needs in the classroom.
The Consultation and Workshop sessions were conducted by Yang Berusaha, Professor Madya Dr. Hasnah binti Toran, Director of the ‘PERMATA Kurnia Centre’ PERMATA Section under the Ministry of Education in Malaysia. Professor Madya Dr.Hasnah was invited to review the proposed Curriculum Package. The Curriculum Package will be used as a reference and guide to enhance the teaching and learning process which in turn, will maximise the full potential of students with high support needs in inclusive school environments. She will continue to work closely with the Curriculum Package Committee members in Special Education Unit within the capacity of Adviser to facilitate the successful implementation of the Curriculum Package in early 2020.
Hari Khamis, 17 Januari 2019 – Sesi konsultasi dan bengkel untuk menyediakan Pakej Kurikulum bagi Pelajar-Pelajar Berkeperluan Khas Tahap Tinggi telah diadakan selama 3 hari dan berakhir hari ini di Dewan Pencapaian, Institut Perkhidmatan Awam di Rimba, Gadong.
Seramai 75 peserta yang terdiri daripada guru SENA, pegawai-pegawai di Unit Pendidikan Khas dan wakil daripada SMARTER dan Pusat Ehsan telah menghadiri majlis penutup bengkel tersebut. Juga hadir ialah Yang Mulia Ali Yusri bin Abdul Ghafor, Pemangku Ketua Unit Pendidikan Khas, Kementerian Pendidikan.
Sesi konsultasi dan bengkel ini telah dianjurkan oleh Unit Pendidikan Khas (UPK) di bawah Kementerian Pendidikan yang mana telah berlangsung selama 3 hari bermula 15 hingga 17 Januari 2019. Sesi konsultasi yang diadakan pada waktu pagi memberi tumpuan kepada proses merangka Pakej Kurikulum bagi Pelajar-Pelajar berkeperluan Khas Tahap Tinggi dan dalam menangani pelajar-pelajar berkeperluan khas di sekolah secara amnya. Manakala, bengkel latihan yang diadakan pada sebelah petang pula bertujuan untuk memberi pengetahuan dan kesedaran mengenai kemahiran yang diperlukan untuk membantu pelajar-pelajar berkeperluan khas tahap tinggi.
