Challenges Some of
the future challenges facing the Department include: a)
Accommodating the needs of the increasing number of secondary school b)
Catering for the needs of an increasing number of retirees and reducing c)
Responding to the rapid changes in technology for workforce training; d)
Catering to the needs of the increasing number of women participating in e)
Enhancing VTE; f)
Promoting cooperation and collaboration with industry in workforce g)
Creating jobs to supplement the limited job availability in the h)
Enhancing students achievement in Science and Mathematics to prepare i)
Reducing the high proportion of foreign workers; j)
Responding to the economic climate on a short
and long term basis. In the
light of these challenges the DTE is planning a number of strategies to a) Increasing
the research and development capacity of the Department; b) Strengthening linkages with industry; c)
Improving quality control systems to ensure marketability and wider d)
Implementing staff development programmes for upgrading and e)
Developing appropriate curricula and delivery systems to maximise access f)
Strengthening the Departments capacity in publication, documentation
