Very briefly, Sekolah Menengah
Sayyidina ‘Othman is a co-educational Secondary School, situated at the National
Housing Scheme area at Kampung Bukit Beruang, Mukim Telisai, Tutong, Negara Brunei
Darussalam. It is one of the few secondary schools built by His Majesty’s government
in the early 1990’s to accommodate the increasing number of students in the country.
The school was opened for admission on
the 9th May 1994 and it was officially named as Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina
‘Othman on the 30th July, 1997 by His excellency, the Minister of
Development, Pengiran Indera Wijaya Pengiran Dr. Hj. Ismail bin Pengiran Haji Damit. The
school was named after one of the four close disciples of the Prophet of Muhammad (PBUH).
Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina
‘Othman is offering secondary school education from Form One to Form Five. Students
undertake the PMB (Lower Secondary Assessment) examination, Brunei-Cambridge GCE
‘N’ Level, GCE ‘O’ Level, the London GCE ‘O’ Level and IGCSE
examinations in the English Language.
The school gives equal importance to
both academic and non-academic activities. With this, it is hoped that our school is able
to produce well-balanced citizens who can make useful contributions towards the
development of Negara Brunei Darussalam.
