LAUNCHING CEREMONY OF THE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) GUIDANCE
FOR SCHOOLS TOOLKIT WORKSHOP

ONG SUM PING - The Ministry of Education, through the Science, Technology and Environment Partnership (STEP) Centre in collaboration with the Department of Educators Management, today launched the 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Guidance For Schools Toolkit Workshop', held at Sekolah Tinggi Perempuan Raja Isteri.
Present as the Guest of Honour to officiate the launch of this workshop was Yang Mulia Awang Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Acting Permanent Secretary (Core Education), Ministry of Education.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by a welcoming remark from Yang Mulia Hajah Suriani binti Haji Noor Hashim, Head of the STEP Centre. The ceremony continued with a speech from the Guest of Honour and the Launch of the workshop.
Among the highlights of this event was a keynote presentation titled 'Leveraging Generative AI to Enhance Classroom Learning and Efficiency' delivered online by Yang Mulia Dr. Kritsachai Somsaman, Director of the SEAMEO STEM-ED Regional Centre (Thailand). Additionally, a presentation titled 'AI is Changing Our Lives' was also delivered during the event by Yang Mulia Mohammad Syafiq bin Haji Abu Bakar, Education Officer, Department of Educators Management, Ministry of Education.
The event witnessed the physical and online attendance of school leaders and teachers from primary and secondary schools, and sixth form centres under the Ministry of Education, as well as school leaders and teachers from Arabic schools and Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah under the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The launch of the 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Guidance For Schools Toolkit' marked another important milestone in supporting initiatives under the Ministry of Education's Digital Transformation Plan, in line with Brunei Darussalam's Digital Economy Masterplan 2025 and the Ministry of Education's vision of 'Quality Education, Progressive Nation.'
Following the launch event, several workshops are scheduled to take place from 25 June 2024 to 27 July 2024, involving 318 participants comprising cluster heads, school leaders, and teachers. These workshops aim to introduce participants to the AI Guidance for Schools Toolkit, providing essential knowledge and skills to integrate AI software into the teaching and learning process, and emphasizing the importance of ethical AI practices as advocated by the toolkit.
Also present at the event were heads of departments, heads of clusters, and officers from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

MAJLIS PELANCARAN BENGKEL ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) GUIDANCE FOR SCHOOLS TOOLKIT

ONG SUM PING - Kementerian Pendidikan melalui Pusat Kerjasama Sains, Teknologi dan Alam Sekitar (STEP) dengan kerjasama Jabatan Pengurusan Pendidik pada hari ini telah melancarkan 'Bengkel Artificial Intelligence (AI) Guidance For Schools Toolkit', yang diadakan di Sekolah Tinggi Perempuan Raja Isteri.
Hadir selaku Tetamu Kehormat untuk merasmikan pelancaran bengkel ini ialah Yang Mulia Awang Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Pemangku Setiausaha Tetap (Pendidikan Teras), Kementerian Pendidikan.
Majlis dimulakan dengan Bacaan Surah Al-Fatihah dan Doa Selamat, diikuti dengan kata alu-aluan daripada Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Suriani binti Haji Noor Hashim, Ketua Pusat STEP. Majlis diteruskan dengan ucapan daripada Tetamu Kehormat dan pelancaran bengkel tersebut.
Antara perisian bagi majlis ini adalah pembentangan ucaptama bertajuk 'Leveraging Generative AI to Enhance Classroom Learning and Efficiency' yang disampaikan oleh Yang Mulia Dr Kritsachai Somsaman, Pengarah Pusat Serantau SEAMEO STEM-ED (Thailand) secara dalam talian. Pembentangan bertajuk 'AI is Changing Our Lives' juga telah disampaikan semasa majlis ini oleh Yang Mulia Mohammad Syafiq bin Haji Abu Bakar, Pegawai Pelajaran, Jabatan Pengurusan Pendidik, Kementerian Pendidikan.
Majlis tersebut menyaksikan kehadiran secara fizikal dan dalam talian yang melibatkan pemimpin-pemimpin sekolah dan guru-guru dari sekolah rendah, menengah dan pusat tingkatan enam Kerajaan di bawah kawalan Kementerian Pendidikan serta pemimpin-pemimpin sekolah dan guru-guru dari sekolah arab serta Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah di bawah kawalan Kementerian Hal Ehwal Ugama.
Pelancaran Bengkel Artificial Intelligence (AI) Guidance For Schools Toolkit tersebut menandakan satu lagi milestone penting bagi mendokong inisiatif-inisiatif dalam Pelan Transformasi Digital Kementerian Pendidikan selaras dengan Pelan Induk Ekonomi Digital 2025, Brunei Darussalam dan Visi Kementerian Pendidikan iaitu 'Pendidikan Berkualiti, Negara Progresif'.
Sejurus dengan majlis pelancaran tersebut, beberapa bengkel akan dijadualkan bermula 25 Jun 2024 hingga 27 Julai 2024 yang akan dihadiri oleh seramai 318 orang terdiri daripada ketua-ketua kluster, pemimpin-pemimpin sekolah dan guru-guru. Bengkel tersebut bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan peserta kepada AI Guidance for Schools Toolkit, memberikan pengetahuan dan kemahiran penting untuk mengintegrasikan perisian AI ke dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran, serta menekankan kepentingan amalan etika AI seperti yang dianjurkan oleh panduan tersebut.
Turut hadir semasa majlis tersebut ialah ketua-ketua jabatan, ketua-ketua kluster, dan pegawai-pegawai daripada Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kementerian Hal Ehwal Ugama.
