PARTICIPATION OF STUDENTS IN THE STEM EXPLORATION CAMP (STEC) PROGRAMME
AT SEKOLAH KEBANGSAAN PEKAN MENUMBOK, SABAH

BERAKAS – The Ministry of Education, through the Department of Schools today coordinated the participation of 2 officers from the Department of Schools as well as 6 teachers and 30 students from Sekolah Rendah Rataie; Sekolah Rendah Mentiri; Sekolah Rendah Rimba II; Sekolah Rendah Awang Haji Mohd Yusof Katimahar; Sekolah Rendah Lamunin; and Sekolah Rendah Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien, Belait to participate in the STEM Exploration Camp (STEC) programme, which will be held at Sekolah Kebangsaan Pekan Menumbok, Sabah, Malaysia. This programme will be held from 29 November to 2 December 2024.
Present at the Main Hall, Ministry of Education New Building to bid farewell to the delegation was Yang Mulia Awang Haji Metussin bin Haji Jais, Acting Director of Schools, Ministry of Education. The delegation was led by Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Mal Hafida binti Haji Alit/Malek, Senior Education Officer from the Department of Schools.
This 3-day programme is a co-curricular activity organised by the Sabah State Education Department in collaboration with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Sabah; Keningau Campus Teacher Education Institute; Kent Campus Teacher Education Institute, Sabah; Universiti Malaysia Sabah; and the Malaysian Headmasters' Association (PGMB) Sabah, under the management of Sekolah Menengah Pekan Menumbok for 2024. The programme will involve 180 students from Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
Among the objectives of this programme is to cultivate a culture of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) among students in schools. Additionally, the hosting of this camp at the international level provides students with opportunities to actively compete at a higher level and gain meaningful experiences through participation in activities beyond the classroom.
Among the activities featured in this programme are Icebreaking activities with scientific skills and science concepts; Inquiry-Based Science Education (IBSE) competition activities; Micro:Bit activities which will challenge students to design solutions and communicate without relying on voice or sound; and the Engineering Design Process (EDP) project. Additionally, a STEM open exhibition will be held on the final day of the camp.
Also present during the delegation's departure were officers from the Department of Schools, Ministry of Education, as well as parents and family members of the students.

BERAKAS – Kementerian Pendidikan melalui Jabatan Sekolah-Sekolah pada hari ini telah menyelaras penyertaan 2 orang pegawai Jabatan Sekolah-Sekolah serta 6 orang guru dan 30 orang pelajar dari Sekolah Rendah Rataie; Sekolah Rendah Mentiri; Sekolah Rendah Rimba II; Sekolah Rendah Awang Haji Mohd Yusof Katimahar; Sekolah Rendah Lamunin; dan Sekolah Rendah Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien, Belait untuk menyertai Program STEM Exploration Camp (STEC) bertempat di Sekolah Kebangsaan Pekan Menumbok Sabah, Malaysia. Program ini akan diadakan pada 29 November hingga 2 Disember 2024.
Hadir di Dewan Utama Bangunan Baru Kementerian Pendidikan untuk mengucapkan selamat bertolak bagi rombongan berkenaan ialah Yang Mulia Awang Haji Metussin bin Haji Jais, Pemangku Pengarah Sekolah-Sekolah, Kementerian Pendidikan. Delegasi rombongan diketuai oleh Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Mal Hafida binti Haji Alit/Malek, Pegawai Pelajaran Kanan dari Jabatan Sekolah-Sekolah.
Program 3 hari ini merupakan aktiviti ko-akademik anjuran Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Sabah dengan kerjasama Kementerian Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi, Sabah; Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Keningau; Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Kent, Sabah; Universiti Malaysia Sabah; dan Persatuan Guru Besar Malaysia (PGMB) Sabah di bawah pengelolaan Sekolah Kebangsaan Pekan Menumbok bagi tahun 2024. Program ini akan melibatkan seramai 180 pelajar dari Negara Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia dan Indonesia.
Antara tujuan program ini diadakan adalah untuk membudayakan Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) dalam kalangan murid di sekolah-sekolah. Selain itu, penganjuran kem di peringkat antarabangsa juga memberikan peluang kepada murid-murid untuk lebih aktif bersaing di peringkat yang lebih tinggi serta menimba pengalaman yang bermakna dalam aktiviti luar bilik darjah.
Antara perisian program ini adalah aktiviti Icebreaking dengan kemahiran saintifik dan konsep sains; aktiviti pertandingan Inquiry-Based Science Education (IBSE); aktiviti Micro:Bit yang akan mencabar pelajar untuk menghasilkan bentuk penyelesaian dan terus berkomunikasi tanpa bergantung pada suara atau bunyi; dan Projek Engineering Design Process (EDP). Selain itu, pameran terbuka STEM juga akan diadakan pada hari terakhir kem ini.
Turut hadir semasa rombongan bertolak ialah pegawai-pegawai dari Jabatan Sekolah-Sekolah, Kementerian Pendidikan, serta ibu bapa dan ahli keluarga pelajar.
