ALL THREE STUDENTS REPRESENTING BRUNEI DARUSSALAM AT THE 14TH ASEAN+3 STUDENT CAMP FOR THE GIFTED IN SCIENCE IN THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA SUCCESSFULLY EARN MEDAL AND RECEIVE AWARDS

BERAKAS – The Ministry of Education, through the Centre for the Development of Gifted and Talented Education (EDGE), coordinated the participation of three students and two officials in the 14th ASEAN+3 Student Camp for the Gifted in Science and the 16th ASEAN+3 Teacher Workshop for the Gifted in Science. These events were organised by the ASEAN+3 Center for the Gifted in Science (ACGS), with support from the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korean Foundation for Science and Creativity (KOSAC). The programme was held at the Seoul National University of Education, Seoul, Republic of Korea, from the 15th till 21st December 2024 recently.

During the programme, Dayang Nur Syahindah binti Sopian, a Year 10 student under the Secondary Scholarship Scheme from International School Brunei (ISB) won the Bronze Medal in the cross-country group presentation activity. Meanwhile, Awang Muhd Iqbaluddin bin Muhd Sihamuddin and Dayang Nur Insyirah binti Johari, Year 10 students under the Secondary Scholarship Scheme from International School Brunei (ISB) received the Exemplary Pre-Camp Activities Award for the Physics track: Building Detectors for Natural Disasters such as Earthquakes using micro:bit and the Chemistry track: Future Scientist fighting acid rain respectively.

The programme, themed “From Prediction to Protection: The Role of Science in Responding to Natural Disasters," is an annual program aimed at gathering gifted and talented students and educators in science and technology. It provided a platform for collaboration and showcases skills in a challenging environment. The programme was attended by 102 students from the ASEAN+3 countries.  


Prior to attending the student camp, the students have also participated in pre-camp activities in the country where they are given individual assignments by doing research based on different topic tracks. The students received guidance from experts at the Faculty of Science, Universiti Brunei Darussalam.

KETIGA-TIGA PELAJAR MEWAKILI NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM KE 14TH ASEAN+3 STUDENT CAMP FOR THE GIFTED IN SCIENCE DI REPUBLIK KOREA BERJAYA MERAIH PINGAT DAN MENERIMA ANUGERAH

BERAKAS - Kementerian Pendidikan melalui Pusat Perkembangan Pendidikan Cerdas Pintar dan Berbakat (CentrE for the Development of Gifted and Talented Education, EDGE) telah menyelaras penyertaan bagi tiga (03) orang pelajar dan dua (02) orang pegawai ke 14th ASEAN+3 Student Camp for the Gifted in Science dan 16th ASEAN+3 Teacher Workshop for the Gifted in Science yang dianjurkan oleh ASEAN+3 Center for the Gifted in Science (ACGS), dengan sokongan dari The Korean Ministry of Science and ICT dan Korean Foundation for Science and Creativity (KOSAC). Program ini telah diadakan di Seoul National University of Education, Seoul, Republik Korea, pada 15 hingga 21 Disember 2024 lalu.


Semasa program tersebut, Dayang Nur Syahindah binti Sopian, pelajar Tahun 10 di bawah Skim Biasiswa Menengah dari International School Brunei (ISB) telah berjaya meraih Pingat Gangsa dalam aktiviti pembentangan berkumpulan secara cross-country. Manakala, Awang Muhd Iqbaluddin bin Muhd Sihamuddin dan Dayang Nur Insyirah binti Johari, pelajar Tahun 10 di bawah Skim Biasiswa Menengah dari International School Brunei (ISB) telah berjaya mendapat Anugerah Teladan Aktiviti Pra-Perkhemahan (Exemplary Pre-Camp Activities Award) bagi trek masing-masing iaitu trek Physics: Building Detectors for Natural Disasters such as Earthquakes using micro:bit dan trek Chemistry: Future Scientist fighting acid rain


Program yang bertemakan 'From Prediction to Protection: The Role of Science in Responding to Natural Disasters' merupakan program tahunan yang bertujuan untuk mengumpulkan para pelajar cerdas pintar dan berbakat, dan para guru, dalam bidang Sains dan Teknologi, bagi memberikan peluang untuk berkerjasama dan mempamerkan kemahiran dalam persekitaran yang mencabar. Program telah dihadiri oleh seramai 102 pelajar dari negara-negara ASEAN+3. 


Sebelum menghadiri kem pelajar tersebut, para pelajar juga telah menyertai aktiviti pra-perkhemahan di dalam negara, di mana mereka diberikan tugasan individu dengan menjalankan penyelidikan berdasarkan trek topik berlainan. Para pelajar telah menerima bimbingan daripada pakar-pakar Fakulti Sains, Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
