3rd School Leaders Convention 2021

Saturday, 27th February 2021 – The Ministry of Education for the third year has organized the School Leaders Convention in supporting the Ministry of Education's Strategic Plan 2018 - 2022; Brunei Wawasan 2035 and as an effort to enable school leaders to continuously engage and collaborate with relevant stakeholders towards the development of performance-driven culture for growth and success of overall schools' performance.

The Convention takes place for two days on Saturday 27 February 2021 and Monday 1 March 2021 at the Plenary Hall, International Convention Centre Berakas. This Convention is collaboratively organized by Department of Educators Management and Department of Schools, Ministry of Education.

Attending as the Guest of Honour is Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman, Minister of Education, Brunei Darussalam who has also officiated the opening ceremony and launched The Guidebook for The Brunei Darussalam School Leadership Standards and Competency Framework.

Also in attendance was Yang Mulia Datin Seri Paduka Dr. Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd. Salleh, Deputy Minister of Education; Yang Mulia Permanent Secretary (Higher Education); Yang Mulia Permanent Secretary (Core Education); Yang Mulia Universiti Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Rector, Yang Mulia Universiti Teknologi Brunei Vice Chancellor, Yang Mulia Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education); Yang Mulia Deputy Permanent Secretary (Core Education); Yang Mulia Acting Director General of Education; Directors and Senior Officials at the Ministry of Education and invited guests from The Ministry of Religious Affairs.

About 280 participants attended the convention at the Plenary Hall, International Convention Centre including the Head of Departments, Sections, Units and Centres under the Ministry of Education, school leaders from government, private and international schools as well as Arabic secondary schools. While another 170 participants participated in the Convention via 6 Satellite Venues and received live broadcast.

With the theme of 'Quality Leaders, Quality Education', various components have been planned for these two days convention comprising of i) Head of Departments dialogue Session with school leaders on strong and sustainable MOE stakeholders support and engagement in the implementation of education initiatives (for systemic coherence); 2) Sharing of current status and way forward in implementation of Learning Support Framework, 3) Workshop on The Guidelines for 21st Century Skills Implementation in schools including Framework on Blended Learning and Sharing from School Leaders Best Practices on their Leadership in change management especially regarding 21st Century Teaching and Learning which includes utilizing blended learning methods and 4) Presentation of Schools Incentives for achievement in PSR, GCE 'O' and 'A' Levels and Whole School Evaluation (WSE).

The programme also includes a video conferencing with invited keynote speaker, Professor Dame Alison Peacock from The Chartered College of Teaching, United Kingdom.

As a closing ceremony on the second day of the Convention, school incentive award was given to schools that has shown excellence and improvement in PSR, GCE 'O' dan 'A' Level serta Whole School Evaluation (WSE).

3rd School Leaders Convention 2021

Dewan Plenari, Pusat Persidangan Antarabangsa Berakas

Sabtu 27 Februari 2021 – Kementerian Pendidikan buat kali yang ketiga telah menganjurkan Majlis Konvensyen Pemimpin Sekolah 2021 dalam usaha untuk menyokong Pelan Strategik Kementerian Pendidikan 2018 – 2022 dan Wawasan Brunei 2035 di samping menyediakan platform bagi pemimpin-pemimpin sekolah untuk terus terlibat dan bekerjasama dengan pihak pelbagai berkepentingan yang menjurus ke arah perkembangan performance-driven culture atau budaya berpandukan prestasi bagi meningkatkan prestasi sekolah di seluruh negara.

Majlis Konvensyen diadakan selama dua hari pada 27 Februari 2021 dan 1 Mac 2021 bertempat di Dewan Plenari, Pusat Persidangan Antarabangsa yang dianjurkan bersama oleh Jabatan Pengurusan Pendidik dan Jabatan Sekolah-Sekolah.

Hadir selaku tetamu kehormat ialah Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman, Menteri Pendidikan, Negara Brunei Darussalam yang merasmikan Majlis Konvensyen dan melancarkan Buku Panduan The Brunei Darussalam School Leadership Standards and Competency Framework.

Turut hadir ialah Yang Mulia Datin Seri Paduka Dr. Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd. Salleh, Timbalan Menteri Pendidikan; Yang Mulia Setiausaha Tetap (Pengajian Tinggi); Yang Mulia Setiausaha Tetap (Pendidikan Teras); Yang Mulia Rektor Universiti Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA); Yang Mulia Naib Canselor Universiti Teknologi Brunei; Yang Mulia Timbalan Setiausaha Tetap (Pengajian Tinggi); Yang Mulia Timbalan Setiausaha Tetap (Pendidikan Teras); Yang Mulia Pemangku Ketua Pengarah Pendidikan; Pengarah-Pengarah dan pegawai-pegawai kanan di Kementerian Pendidikan serta jemputan daripada Kementerian Hal Ehwal Ugama.

Lebih 280 peserta turut serta menghadiri Konvensyen berkenaan termasuk ketua-ketua jabatan, bahagian, unit dan pusat di bawah Kementerian Pendidikan, pemimpin sekolah dari sekolah-sekolah kerajaan, swasta dan sekolah antarabangsa serta sekolah-sekolah menengah Arab. Disamping itu kira-kira seramai 170 orang peserta juga mengikuti Majlis Konvensyen berkenaan melalui siaran langsung (live broadcast) di 6 buah pusat satellite.

Dengan tema 'Quality Leaders, Quality Education', pelbagai komponen telah diaturkan dalam Konvensyen selama dua hari tersebut termasuklah komponen bertujuan bagi  1) Mengukuhkan kesepaduan sistem (systemic coherence) melalui penglibatan dan sokongan yang kukuh dan telus dari semua pelbagai pihak yang berkepentingan di Kementerian Pendidikan dalam melaksanakan inisiatif pendidikan selaras dengan Pelan Strategik Kementerian Pendidikan 2018-2022, 2) Mengemaskinikan pelaksanaan Kerangka Sokongan Pembelajaran (Learning Support Framework) oleh pemimpin-pemimpin sekolah, 3)     Mengukuhkan dan menginstitusikan kemahiran abad ke-21 dengan penyediaan Blended Learning Framework dan 4) Memberikan penghargaan insentif kepada sekolah-sekolah yang mencapai kecemerlangan dan peningkatan dalam peperiksaan awam (PSR, GCE O dan GCE A Level) dan Whole School Evaluation (WSE) dan lantikan pemimpin-pemimpin sekolah yang baru.

Termasuk di dalam aturcara program Konvensyen pada hari pertama ini juga adalah video conferencing oleh penyampai ucap utama, Professor Dame Alison Peacock daripada The Chartered College of Teaching, United Kingdom.

Sebagai penutup pada hari kedua Konvensyen, Majlis Penyampaian Insentif Sekolah telah diadakan bagi sekolah-sekolah yang telah menunjukkan pencapaian terbaik dan peningkatan dalam peperiksaan PSR, GCE 'O' dan GCE 'A' Level serta Whole School Evaluation (WSE).
