Yang Mulia Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Permanent Secretary (Higher Education), Ministry of Education as the Secretary General of the Brunei Darussalam National Commission for Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) attended the ICESCO's 41st Session of the Executive Council which was held virtually Tuesday, 30th March 2021. The meeting was coordinated by ICESCO for two (2) days from 30th to 31st March 2021.
The ICESCO's Executive Council is convened annually, bringing together senior officials from over 54 Member States as well as representatives of international organizations to examine reports, draft action plans and budget of ICESCO and submit them to the General Conference for approval of report.
This year's meeting was officiated by the Guest of Honor, His Excellency Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director General of ICESCO. In his opening remarks, he highlighted some of ICESCO's remarkable strides in 2020 despite the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic. He also stressed that the organization was able to meet the needs of several Member States in the educational, cultural, humanitarian and social aspects.
During the virtual meeting, ICESCO Member States including Brunei Darussalam had the opportunity to discuss many important topics including the Draft Charter of National Commissions for ICESCO, The Regulations of ICESCO Chairs, the Regulations of the Young Professional Programme, the Digitization of the Organization, and the Status Report of ICESCO's Regional Offices.
Also in attendance to the virtual meeting were Yang Mulia Pengiran Haji Ahmad Masudwardi Aidil-Fitri bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Daud, Acting Head of International Affairs Unit and officers from the Ministry of Education.

Yang Mulia Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Setiausaha Tetap (Pengajian Tinggi), Kementerian Pendidikan sebagai Setiausaha Agung Suruhanjaya Kebangsaan Negara Brunei Darussalam bagi Pertubuhan Pendidikan, Saintifik dan Kebudayaan Dunia Islam (ICESCO) hari ini telah menghadiri Majlis Eksekutif Sesi ke-41 secara maya. Mesyuarat tersebut adalah diselenggarakan oleh pihak ICESCO selama dua (2) hari bermula 30hb hingga 31hb Mac 2021.
Majlis Eksekutif ICESCO diadakan setiap tahun yang dihadiri oleh pegawai-pegawai tertinggi dari lebih 54 buah negara, wakil-wakil pertubuhan antarabangsa bagi meneliti laporan-laporan, deraf-deraf pelan tindakan dan peruntukan ICESCO serta menghadapkannya ke Persidangan Agung untuk pengesahan selanjutnya.
Mesyuarat tahun ini telah diketuai oleh Tetamu Kehormat, Tuan Yang Terutama Dr. Salim M AlMalik, Ketua Pengarah Pertubuhan ICESCO. Semasa sesi pembukaan mesyuarat tersebut, beliau telah menyampaikan mengenai langkah-langkah yang ditempuhi pada tahun 2020 walau dilanda wabak pandemik COVID-19. Beliau juga menekankan bahawa pertubuhan tersebut telah memenuhi keperluan-keperluan beberapa negara anggota dalam aspek pendidikan, kebudayaan, kemanusiaan dan sosial.
Semasa mesyuarat maya itu, Negara Anggota ICESCO termasuk Negara Brunei Darussalam telah berpeluang untuk membincangkan beberapa topik penting termasuk deraf piagam Suruhanjaya Kebangsaan bagi ICESCO, Undang-Undang "ICESCO Chairs", Program Profesional Muda, Pendigitan Pertubuhan, dan Laporan Status Pejabat-Pejabat Serantau ICESCO.
Turut menghadiri mesyuarat maya itu ialah Yang Mulia Pengiran Haji Ahmad Masudwardi Aidil-Fitri bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Daud, Pemangku Ketua Unit Hal Ehwal Antarabangsa serta pegawai-pegawai dari Kementerian Pendidikan.
