LAUNCHING CEREMONY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF SPECIAL EDUCATION REFERENCE PACKAGE​

BERAKAS - The Ministry of Education through the Department of Special Education, held a launching ceremony and certificate presentation at the Main Hall of the Curriculum Development Department, Ministry of Education, today.

Present as the guest of honour was Yang Mulia Awang Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Core Education), Ministry of Education, Brunei Darussalam.

The ceremony began with a welcoming speech by Yang Mulia Awang Eddy Fazlin bin Haji Amdan, Acting Head at the Department of Special Education as the Chairperson of the Organising Committee. This was followed by the official launch by the guest of honour of several publications namely the Special Education Framework, Special Education Curriculum Framework, Special Education Handbook for parents and teachers, as well as various brochures that describe strategies related to inclusive practices in schools. The Special Education Framework was published in 2022 and is a supplement to the 1997 edition of the Special Education Policy Guidelines published for inclusive and equitable quality education, particularly for students with special needs. The Special Education Framework and other publications are also published as a reference for educators and the community in obtaining support and services. The publications were distributed during the event and digital copies can be downloaded through the Ministry of Education website.

The ceremony continued with the presentation of certificates by the guest of honor to 34 teachers consisting of 8 government primary school teachers and 26 private school teachers who participated in the Special Education Introduction Course. The teachers were also officially appointed as 'Special Education Needs Support Educator' (SENSE) in their respective schools. Among the purposes of the Special Education Introduction course which was held from July to October 2022 are to convey basic knowledge and skills that will help the teaching and learning of students with special needs, in addition to ensuring that teachers have the competence, understanding, knowledge and skills to facilitating the development and implementation of inclusive education in their respective schools.

Also present at the ceremony were directors, senior officers, school leaders and officers from the Ministry of Education.

MAJLIS PELANCARAN PAKEJ RUJUKAN JABATAN PENDIDIKAN KHAS

BERAKAS - Kementerian Pendidikan melalui Jabatan Pendidikan Khas pada hari ini telah mengadakan Majlis Pelancaran Pakej Rujukan Jabatan Pendidikan Khas dan penyampaian sijil bertempat di Dewan Utama, Jabatan Perkembangan Kurikulum, Kementerian Pendidikan.​

Hadir selaku tetamu kehormat ialah Yang Mulia Awang Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Timbalan Setiausaha Tetap (Pendidikan Teras), Kementerian Pendidikan, Negara Brunei Darussalam.

Majlis dimulakan dengan ucapan alu-aluan oleh Yang Mulia Awang Eddy Fazlin bin Haji Amdan, Pemangku Ketua Jabatan Pendidikan Khas selaku Pengerusi majlis. Ini diikuti dengan pelancaran rasmi oleh tetamu kehormat bagi beberapa buah penerbitan iaitu Rangka Kerja Pendidikan Khas, Rangka Kerja Kurikulum Pendidikan Khas, Buku Panduan Pendidikan Khas untuk ibu bapa dan guru, serta pelbagai risalah-risalah yang menggambarkan strategi berkaitan dengan amalan-amalan inklusif di sekolah. Rangka Kerja Pendidikan Khas telah diterbitkan pada tahun 2022 dan merupakan dokumen tambahan kepada Garis Panduan Dasar Pendidikan Khas edisi 1997 yang diterbitkan untuk pendidikan berkualiti inklusif dan saksama khusus bagi pelajar-pelajar berkeperluan khas. Rangka Kerja Pendidikan Khas dan penerbitan lain juga bertujuan sebagai rujukan para pendidik dan masyarakat dalam mendapatkan sokongan dan perkhidmatan berkenaan. Buku-buku penerbitan telah diedarkan semasa acara tersebut dan salinan digital boleh di muat turun melalui laman web Kementerian Pendidikan.

Majlis diteruskan dengan penyampaian sijil oleh tetamu kehormat majlis kepada 34 orang guru peserta Kursus Pengenalan Pendidikan Khas yang terdiri daripada 8 orang guru sekolah rendah kerajaan dan 26 orang guru sekolah swasta. Guru-guru tersebut juga dilantik secara rasmi sebagai 'Special Education Needs Support Educator' (SENSE) di sekolah masing-masing. Antara tujuan kursus Pengenalan Pendidikan Khas yang telah diadakan pada bulan Julai hingga Oktober 2022 adalah untuk menyampaikan pengetahuan dan kemahiran asas yang akan membantu pengajaran dan pembelajaran pelajar-pelajar berkeperluan khas, di samping memastikan guru mempunyai kompetensi, kefahaman, pengetahuan dan kemahiran untuk memudahkan perkembangan dan pelaksanaan pendidikan inklusif di sekolah masing-masing.

Turut hadir di majlis tersebut ialah pengarah-pengarah, pegawai-pegawai kanan, para pemimpin sekolah dan pegawai-pegawai dari Kementerian Pendidikan.
