​Introduction
​Centralised Assessment Unit (CAU) was created in October 2017 and is led by the Director, Department of Examinations with members comprising of directors and officers from Department of Schools; Curriculum Development Department; Department of Schools Inspectorate; Department of Planning, Development and Research; Department of Information and Communication Technology; Strategic Enterprise Performance and Delivery Unit (SEPaDU). CAU is supervised by Deputy Permanent Secretary (Core Education), Ministry of Education

​Aims
​Student Assessment Tracker (SAT) is the national assessment developed by CAU to measure students’ proficiency in reading, writing and numeracy skills and science. The assessment covers all government primary and secondary school students from Year 1 to Year 11

​Objectives

  • To coordinate assessments developed by CAU for all government schools in Brunei
  • To determine students’ literacy and numeracy competencies based on the Brunei Darussalam Literacy and Numeracy National Standards (BDLNNS)
  • To provide evidence-based data and comprehensive reports in improving teaching pedagogy and students’ learning outcome
  • To allow continuous and consistent monitoring and tracking of students’ learning progress across Year levels from primary to secondary levels
  • To prepare students for international benchmarking such as Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA)
