About Us

Department of Planning, Development and Research is currently under the jurisdiction of Permanent Secretary (Core Education), Ministry of Education.

The department consists of 41 personnel, i.e. 28 officers and 13 support staff. There are five (5) sections/ unit under the Department, i.e. (i) Administration and Human Resource Section; (ii) Finance Section (iii) Research and Planning Section; (iv) Education Data Management Section; and (v) International Assessment Unit.


​Objectives
  • ​Strategic Objective 1:   Transform our organisation human resources through a performance-driven culture for growth and success.
  • Strategic Objective 2:   Provide equal and equitable access to quality education
  • Strategic Objective 3:   Engage and involve stakeholders for shared accountability in the learning development of our learners

​Functions
  1. To conduct policy-based and evidence-based studies to support policy planning an drevision align with the strategic direction of the Ministry of Education and Brunei Vision 2035.
  2. Identify currect educational issues that require further research.
  3. The collection and analysis of education related data for the needs of the Ministry of Education including the Publication of the Brunei Darussalam Education Year Book and Publication of Education Indicator and Statistic.
  4. Focal point for the Ministry of Education with government and international agencies in the data and information dealings for example Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (JPES) and United Nation Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
  5. As a champion/ implementor of Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA).
