CERTIFICATE PRESENTATION CEREMONY FOR PRE-VOCATIONAL STUDENTS FOR THE ACADEMIC SESSION 2018-2022 AND PRIZE PRESENTATION FOR THE BRAILLE CODE TRANSLATION COMPETITION

Berakas The Ministry of Education through the Department of Special Education held a certificate presentation ceremony for 92 Pre-Vocational students 2018-2022 and a prize presentation for the braille code translation competition at the Mahkota Hall, Time Square, Shopping Mall today. 

 

Present as Guest of Honour and chairperson was Yang Mulia Awang Eddy Fazlin bin Haji Amdan, Acting Head of the Department of Special Education, Ministry of Education.  

 

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa led by Yang Mulia Awang Shahrin bin Haji Mohd. Noor, the Imam of Balai Ibadat Mukim Saba followed by a welcoming speech from the chairperson of the event. 

 

The ceremony continued with a short video clip on the information of the Pre-Vocational Program including the braille code translation competition and followed by the prize presentation by the guest of honorpresentation of certificates by the Guest of Honour to the graduating students of the Pre-Vocational Programme 2018-2022, certificates of appreciation to six Home Room Teachers (HRT) and Special Education Needs (SEN) teachers who have recently retired from service and tokens of appreciation to 11 companies for their support and partnership in providing work placements for students in the Pre-Vocational Programme followed by prize presentation to the top three winners of the braille translating competition. 

 

The Pre-Vocational Programme is a 5-year secondary education pathway designed for students with special educational needs who require additional support in mastering skills in one or more of the following domains: academic, social and communication, physical, sensory, and independent living. The Programme sets out to maximise the potential of students with special educational needs so they can acquire various independent living skills and basic vocational skills which will empower them to become independent adults. 

 

The braille translating competition was organized in conjunction with World Braille Day, which is celebrated every year on January 4. The main objective of this competition is to increase awareness and knowledge about the meaning of the braille characters among regular students and teachers, as well as to stress its importance as a learning resource and communication tool for students with visual impairment. 

 

This competition was opened to all interested teachers and normal stream students studying from year 4 through year 9. A total of 31 participants participated in the competition, seven (07) students from the upper primary level, eight (08) from the lower secondary level, and 16 teachers. 


The ceremony concluded with an exhibition showcasing varieties of products prepared by students from the Pre-Vocational Programme from 14 government secondary schools. 

 

Also present were heads of departments, heads of clusters, senior officers and officers from the Ministry of Education, school leaders, teachers and parents.

MAJLIS PENYAMPAIAN SIJIL PELAJAR PROGRAM PRA-VOKASIONAL SESI 2018-2022 DAN HADIAH PERTANDINGAN MENTERJEMAH KOD BRAILLE

Berakas Kementerian Pendidikan melalui Jabatan Pendidikan Khas telah menganjurkan Majlis Penyampaian Sijil kepada 92 pelajar yang telah berjaya menamatkan pengajian Program Pra-Vokasional bagi sesi 2018 – 2022 dan hadiah pertandingan menterjemah kod Braille yang diadakan di Mahkota Hall, Times Square pada hari ini.  

 

Hadir selaku Tetamu Kehormat dan pengerusi ialah Yang Mulia Awang Eddy Fazlin bin Haji Amdan, Pemangku Ketua, Jabatan Pendidikan Khas, Kementerian Pendidikan. 

 

Majlis dimulakan dengan bacaan Surah Al-Fatihah dan Doa Selamat yang diketuai oleh Yang Mulia Awang Shahrin bin Haji Mohd. Noor, Imam Balai Ibadat Mukim Saba dan diikuti dengan ucapan alu-aluan daripada pengerusi majlis. 

 

Majlis diteruskan lagi dengan tayangan klip video mengenai Program Pra-Vokasional serta pertandingan menterjemah kod braille dan diikuti dengan penyampaian sijil oleh Tetamu Kehormat kepada pelajar yang telah menamatkan Program Pra-Vokasional, sijil penghargaan kepada enam (06) orang guru Pendidikan Khas yang bersara, sijil penghargaan serta cenderahati kepada 11 buah syarikat yang terlibat dalam penempatan kerja pelajar-pelajar yang mengikuti Program Pra-Vokasional. 

 

Program Pra-Vokasional adalah program 5 tahun yang dirancang khusus untuk pelajar berkeperluan khas di beberapa buah sekolah menengah kerajaan. Program ini bertujuan untuk menyediakan pembelajaran yang bersesuaian bagi membolehkan mereka mendapat kemahiran asas berfungsi seperti dalam bidang akademik, sosial dan komunikasi, pengurusan diri, asas vokasional, dan kemahiran kerja berpandukan kepada Rancangan Pendidikan Individu atau Individualised Education Plan (IEP) masing-masing mengikut tahap dan kebolehan individu itu sendiri. 

 

Majlis seterusnya diikuti dengan penyampaian hadiah kepada pemenang-pemenang pertandingan menterjemah kod braille.  

 

Pertandingan menterjemah kod braille telah dianjurkan bersempena memperingati World Braille Day yang disambut pada 04 Januari 2023. Salah satu objektif pertandingan ini adalah bertujuan untuk memberikan pendedahan dan pengetahuan tentang makna simbol-simbol kod braille kepada para pelajar dan guru-guru serta kepentingannya sebagai sumber pembelajaran dan saluran komunikasi bagi pelajar-pelajar tiada penglihatan dan penglihatan terhad. 

  

Pertandingan ini dibukakan kepada pelajar-pelajar aliran biasa peringkat rendah atas, menengah bawah dan guru-guru. Seramai 31 orang peserta yang telah menyertai pertandingan ini iaitu tujuh (07) pelajar-pelajar peringkat rendah atas, lapan (08) pelajar-pelajar peringkat menengah bawah dan 16 orang guru. 

 

Majlis diakhiri dengan menyaksikan pameran hasil kerja tangan pelajar-pelajar Pra-Vokasional dari 14 buah sekolah menengah kerajaan. 

 

Turut hadir pada majlis tersebut ialah ketua-ketua jabatan, ketua-ketua Kluster dan pegawai-pegawai di Kementerian Pendidikan dan juga ibubapa pelajar Program Pra-Vokasional.
