THE LAUNCHING OF
'EDUCATION RESILIENCE: BRUNEI DARUSSALAM'S COVID-19 JOURNEY' PHOTOBOOK

BERAKAS – His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to launch the "Education Resilience: Brunei Darussalam's COVID-19 Journey" Photobook during the 33rd Teacher's Day Celebration, 2023 today at the International Convention Centre, Berakas.
The book "Education Resilience: Brunei Darussalam's COVID-19 Journey" was edited and put together by the Department of Planning, Development and Research, Ministry of Education with the support of departments under the Ministry of Education and the Department of Islamic Studies, Ministry of Religious Affairs including government and private higher education institutions, schools and colleges.
The book records the high resilience of the education system when the country was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, it also aims to show appreciation for the contribution of all educators in ensuring that teaching and learning continues when the country and the world were hit by calamity. This book sketches the moments and events that happened through pictorial storytelling, starting from the closure of schools, the de-escalation phase and the recovery of curriculum time.
The content of the book shows the atmosphere surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic which has presented a major challenge to the education system around the world, including in Brunei Darussalam. However, Brunei Darussalam has shown high resilience in the field of education during the pandemic. Among the important factors emphasised in the book is the commitment of the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to ensure that teaching and learning resumes even in difficult circumstances, as well as supported by high commitment from the stakeholders including parents and students. The high resilience education is also the result of joint efforts through a whole-of-nation approach. It is hoped that the book can be a source of reference for future generations.

BERAKAS – Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muizzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Hail Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam telah berkenan melancarkan Buku Bergambar (Photobook) bertajuk "Education Resilience: Brunei Darussalam's COVID-19 Journey" semasa Majlis Sambutan Hari Guru yang ke-33, Tahun 2023 hari ini di Pusat Persidangan Antarabangsa, Berakas.
Buku "Education Resilience: Brunei Darussalam's COVID-19 Journey" ini disunting dan diusahakan oleh Jabatan Perancangan, Perkembangan dan Penyelidikan, Kementerian Pendidikan dan disokong oleh jabatan-jabatan di bawah Kementerian Pendidikan dan Jabatan Pengajian Islam, Kementerian Hal Ehwal Ugama termasuk institusi-institusi pengajian tinggi, sekolah-sekolah dan maktab-maktab kerajaan dan bukan kerajaan.
Buku tersebut merakamkan kedayatahanan tinggi sistem pendidikan ketika negara dilanda pandemik COVID-19. Selain itu, ia juga bertujuan untuk merakamkan penghargaan atas sumbangan segenap lapisan warga pendidikan dalam memastikan pengajaran dan pembelajaran tetap berjalan ketika negara dan dunia dilanda musibah. Buku ini melakarkan detik dan peristiwa yang berlaku melalui penceritaan bergambar, bermula dari sesi persekolahan ditutup, fasa de-eskalasi seta pemulihan kehilangan masa kurikulum.
Kandungan buku tersebut menunjukkan suasana sekitar pandemik COVID-19 yang telah memberikan cabaran besar kepada sistem pendidikan di seluruh dunia, termasuk di Negara Brunei Darussalam. Namun, Negara Brunei Darussalam telah menunjukkan kedayatahanan yang tinggi dalam bidang pendidikan semasa pandemik tersebut. Antara faktor penting yang ditekankan di dalam buku tersebut adalah komitmen Kerajaan Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam untuk memastikan pengajaran dan pembelajaran tetap berterusan walaupun dalam keadaan yang sukar, serta disokong oleh komitmen tinggi dari pihak-pihak berkepentingan termasuk ibu bapa dan pelajar. Kedayatahanan pendidikan yang tinggi ini juga adalah hasil daripada usaha sama melalui pendekatan seluruh negara (whole-of-nation approach). Buku ini diharap akan dapat menjadi ristaan dan rujukan generasi akan datang.
