PRIZE AND AWARD PRESENTATION CEREMONY FOR THE 4TH COOKING COMPETITION AND THE 4TH BOOTCAMP PROGRAMME FOR PRE-VOCATIONAL STUDENTS, AND THE LAUNCH OF THE PRE-VOCATIONAL PROGRAMME CURRICULUM BOOK (BKPPV 2024)

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – The Ministry of Education, through the Department of Special Education, this morning held the Prize Presentation Ceremony for the 4th Cooking Competition and the Award Presentation for the 4th Bootcamp Programme for government secondary schools and colleges. The ceremony was held alongside the launch of the Pre-Vocational Programme Curriculum Book (BKPPV 2024), which took place at Ruang Hall, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex.
Present as the Guest of Honour to officiate the presentation of the prizes and awards to the winners was Yang Mulia Dr. Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin, Permanent Secretary (Core Education), Ministry of Education.
A total of eight (8) schools successfully progressed to the final stage which was held on 9 November 2024. During the competition, students were required to prepare three types of food and one type of drink, namely Savoury (Pastry-rubbing method), soft cookies, buko, and fruit juice. The final stage featured culinary teachers from the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) and the Executive Sous Chef from The Rizqun International Hotel as the judges.
For the cooking competition, the champion was Sekolah Menengah Masin followed by Sekolah Menengah Awang Semaun in second place and Sekolah Menengah Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar in third place.
Meanwhile, the 4th Bootcamp Programme for Pre-Vocational Students was organised in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Innovation Centre (EIC), Ministry of Education. This year, the Programme comprises of twelve (12) secondary schools in the Pre-Vocational Programme and six (6) primary schools in the Special Education Programme. This Bootcamp Programme aims to expose students in developing an entrepreneurial mindset, skills and entrepreneurship education as well as innovation. Additionally, the students also had the opportunity to showcase their abilities, creativity, innovation, and their talents in producing the best products.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of three awards, comprising certificates of recognition and consolation prizes, to the three best schools for product creation, namely Sekolah Menengah Perdana Wazir for “Most Innovative", Sekolah Menengah Lambak Kiri for “Most Passionate", and Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Abu Bakar for “Most Creative".
This morning's event continued with the Launch of the Pre-Vocational Programme Curriculum Book (BKPPV 2024). The book aims to guide Special Education teachers in Pre-Vocational Programme. The publication is also aligned with the Strategic Goals of the Ministry of Education and the 4th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 4) of UNESCO1, which prioritises quality, inclusive, and equitable education for all.
The event was further enlivened with an exhibition and product sales created by students who participated in the Bootcamp Programme.
Also present at the ceremony were Heads of Departments, officers from the Ministry of Education, School Leaders, Teachers, and Students, as well as relevant stakeholder agencies.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – Kementerian Pendidikan melalui Jabatan Pendidikan Khas pada pagi ini telah mengadakan Majlis Penyampaian Hadiah Bagi Pertandingan Memasak Kali Ke-4 dan Penyampaian Anugerah Program Bootcamp Kali Ke-4 untuk sekolah-sekolah menengah dan maktab-maktab Kerajaan dan diselajurkan dengan Pelancaran Buku Kurikulum Program Pra-Vokasional yang mengambil tempat di Dewan Ruang, Kompleks Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
Hadir selaku Tetamu Kehormat bagi menyempurnakan penyampaian hadiah dan anugerah kepada para pemenang ialah Yang Mulia Dr. Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin, Setiausaha Tetap (Pendidikan Teras), Kementerian Pendidikan.
Sebanyak lapan (8) buah sekolah menengah telah berjaya mara ke peringkat akhir yang dijalankan pada 9 November 2024 lalu. Dalam pertandingan tersebut, para pelajar dikehendaki menyediakan tiga jenis makanan dan satu jenis minuman iaitu Savory (Pastry-rubbing method), soft cookies, buko dan jus buah-buahan. Pertandingan peringkat akhir telah dihakimi oleh para juri yang terdiri daripada guru-guru kulinari dari Institut Pendidikan Teknikal Brunei (IBTE) dan Executive Sous Chef daripada The Rizqun International Hotel.
Bagi pertandingan memasak, johan pertandingan ialah Sekolah Menengah Masin diikuti dengan Sekolah Menengah Awang Semaun di tempat kedua dan Sekolah Menengah Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar di tempat ketiga.
Manakala Program Bootcamp Kali Ke-4 bagi Pelajar-Pelajar Pra-Vokasional telah dikendalikan dengan kerjasama Pusat Keusahawanan Inovasi (EIC), Kementerian Pendidikan. Pada tahun ini, program disertai oleh dua belas (12) buah sekolah menengah bagi Program Pra-Vokasional dan enam (6) buah sekolah rendah bagi Program Pendidikan Khas. Program Bootcamp ini bertujuan untuk mendedahkan para pelajar dengan kesedaran corak minda keusahawanan (entrepreneurial mindset), kemahiran dan pendidikan keusahawan serta inovasi. Disamping itu, para pelajar juga berpeluang untuk menunjukkan kebolehan, kreativiti, inovatif serta bakat mereka dalam dalam menghasilkan produk-produk yang terbaik.
Majlis tersebut turut menyaksikan penyampaian tiga anugerah berupa sijil pengiktirafan dan hadiah saguhati kepada tiga buah sekolah terbaik dalam penghasilan produk, iaitu, Sekolah Menengah Perdana Wazir bagi “Most Innovative", Sekolah Menengah Lambak Kiri bagi “Most Passionate" dan Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Abu Bakar bagi “Most Creative".
Acara pagi tersebut diteruskan dengan Pelancaran Buku Kurikulum Program Pra-Vokasional (BKPPV 2024). Buku tersebut bertujuan untuk membantu Guru-Guru Pendidikan Khas dalam melaksanakan Program Pra-Vokasional. Penerbitannya juga selaras dengan Matlamat Strategik Kementerian Pendidikan dan Matlamat Pembangunan Mampan Ke-4 (SDG 4) UNESCO, yang mengutamakan pendidikan berkualiti, inklusif, dan saksama untuk semua. Acara juga diserikan dengan pameran dan jualan produk yang dihasilkan oleh para pelajar yang menyertai pertandingan Program Bootcamp.
Turut hadir semasa majlis ini ialah Ketua-Ketua Jabatan, Pegawai-Pegawai dari Kementerian Pendidikan, para Pemimpin Sekolah, Guru, dan Pelajar serta agensi-agensi yang berkepentingan.
