TWO STUDENTS TO REPRESENT BRUNEI DARUSSALAM AT

THE 17TH INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE YOUTH FORUM 2025 (ISYF 2025)

IN THE REPUBLIC OF SIGAPORE

ON THE 5 TO 10 JANUARY 2025

BERAKAS – The Ministry of Education, through the CentrE for the Development of Gifted and Talented Education (EDGE), has coordinated the participation of two (2) students along with one (1) teacher as participants and mentor to participate in the 17th International Science Youth Forum 2025 (ISYF 2025). The forum is organised by the Hwa Chong Institution (College Section) with support from the Ministry of Education, Republic of Singapore which will be held from 6 to 10 January 2025 at the Hwa Chong Institution, Republic of Singapore.

The students representing Brunei Darussalam are Awang Muhamad Azri Hazmi bin Hanafi, a Year 12 student from Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan, and Awang Chen Po-Hua, a Year 11 student from Chung Hwa Middle School, Bandar Seri Begawan. Meanwhile, Cikgu Awang Mohammad Raymie bin Haji Othman, from Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan, will participate as a teacher participant and mentor to the students.

 

The forum themed 'Innovation Unified: Towards A Better Future', is an annual event aimed at providing a platform for students aged 16 and 17 years to interact with Nobel Laureates and renowned scientists in the field of science.

 

The forum is also held to enrich and enhance teachers' pedagogical competencies through Dialogues and Masterclass Sessions with Nobel Laureates, scientists and experts in the field of science. In addition, the forum aims to strengthen relationships and foster collaboration among educators for the future.

 

During the forum, participants will have the opportunity to participate in various activities such as Science Activities, the Singapore Discovery Trail, Cultural Hour and Exhibition, and the Poster Exhibition, as well as visits to the National Institute of Education and the Science Centre Singapore. Additionally, the students representing Brunei Darussalam will present their project proposal titled 'RiverClear: A Solution to Cleaner Water' during the Poster Exhibition session.

 

Present at Brunei International Airport to bid farewell to the delegation was Yang Mulia Dr Mona Aliana binti Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mohd Alimin, Acting Director of Department of Higher Education and Head of EDGE, Ministry of Education. Also in attendance were officials from EDGE, parents, and family members of the students.

DUA PELAJAR MEWAKILI NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

KE 17TH INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE YOUTH FORUM 2025 (ISYF 2025)

BERAKAS – Kementerian Pendidikan melalui Pusat Perkembangan Pendidikan Cerdas, Pintar dan Berbakat (CentrE for the Development of Gifted and Talented Education, EDGE) telah menyelaras penyertaan bagi dua (2) orang pelajar bersama seorang (1) guru selaku peserta dan mentor untuk menyertai 17th International Science Youth Forum 2025 (ISYF 2025). Forum ini dianjurkan oleh Hwa Chong Institution (College Section) dengan sokongan dari Kementerian Pendidikan, Republik Singapura yang akan diadakan bermula dari 6 hingga 10 Januari 2025 di Hwa Chong Institution, Republik Singapura.

 

Pelajar-pelajar yang mewakili Negara Brunei Darussalam ialah Awang Muhamad Azri Hazmi bin Hanafi, pelajar Tahun 12 dari Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan dan Awang Chen Po-Hua, pelajar Tahun 11 dari Chung Hwa Middle School, Bandar Seri Begawan.  Manakala, Cikgu Awang Mohammad Raymie bin Haji Othman, dari Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan, menyertai selaku peserta (guru) dan mentor kepada para pelajar berkenaan. 

 

Forum yang bertemakan 'Innovation Unified: Towards A Better Future' merupakan forum tahunan yang bertujuan untuk menyediakan platform bagi pelajar-pelajar yang berumur 16 dan 17 tahun untuk berinteraksi dengan penerima Hadiah Nobel (Nobel Laureates) dan Saintis terkemuka dalam bidang sains.

Forum ini turut diadakan untuk memperkaya dan meningkatkan kecekapan pedagogi guru melalui Dialogues and Masterclass Sessions bersama penerima Hadiah Nobel, saintis dan pakar dalam bidang sains. Di samping itu, forum ini juga bertujuan mengeratkan hubungan dan kerjasama antara pendidik bagi masa hadapan.

 

Semasa forum, para peserta akan berpeluang untuk menyertai pelbagai aktiviti seperti Aktiviti Sains, Singapore Discovery Trail, Cultural Hour and Exhibition, dan Pameran Poster serta lawatan ke National Institute of Education, Science Centre Singapore. Di samping itu, pelajar-pelajar yang mewakili Negara Brunei Darussalam akan membentangkan cadangan projek mereka yang bertajuk 'RiverClear: A Solution to Cleaner Water' semasa sesi Pameran Poster tersebut.

 

Hadir di Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Brunei bagi mengucapkan selamat belayar ialah Yang Mulia Dr Mona Aliana binti Dato Paduka Awang Haji Mohd Alimin, Pemangku Pengarah Jabatan Pengajian Tinggi dan Ketua Pusat EDGE, Kementerian Pendidikan. Turut hadir ialah pegawai-pegawai dari Pusat EDGE, Kementerian Pendidikan dan para ibu bapa serta ahli keluarga pelajar.
