THE CLOSING CEREMONY OF THE 3RD NATIONAL UNIFIED BOCCE TOURNAMENT

TANAH JAMBU – The Ministry of Education through the Department of Special Education in collaboration with the Department of Co-Curriculum Education and the Special Olympics Brunei Darussalam (SOBD) today held the closing ceremony of the 3rd National Unified Bocce Tournament at the Dewan Bina Diri, Pusat Pembangunan Belia.
Present as the Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Pengiran Dr. Mohamad Iskandar bin Pengiran Haji Petra, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Corporate), Ministry of Education.
The tournament commenced on Tuesday, 26 August 2025, and concluded today. A total of 27 government secondary schools and one private secondary school participated in the tournament. Each team consisted of five members, comprising four students with special needs and one teacher from the Pre-Vocational Programme. In total, 140 participants took part in the tournament.
The event started with the final stage of the tournament between 4 teams, followed by the presentation of certificates of appreciation and prizes to the winners by the Guest of Honour. The team from Sekolah Menengah Rimba won the gold medal and was awarded the round trophy and the 'Unified Bocce' victory trophy. While the team from Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Umar Al-Khattab received the silver medal and the team from Sekolah Menengah Sultan Sharif Ali received the bronze medal. Consolation prizes were also presented by the Guest of Honour, as well as the trophy to Luqman Hakeem bin Abdullah, Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Umar Al-Khattab, the overall best player for this year's tournament.
Among the purposes of this tournament is to create and foster interests, as well as to unleash the talents of students with special needs in Bocce and other sports in general. In addition, it is also one of the efforts to foster friendship and understanding about the value of differences and diversity among students and society.
Also present were the heads of departments from Ministry of Educations, officers from the Department of Special Education, the Department of Co-curriculum, school leaders, teachers, as well as representatives from Pusat Pembangunan Belia, Special Olympics Brunei Darussalam (SOBD), and the Volunteer and First Aid Support Association Brunei.

MAJLIS PENUTUP KEJOHANAN UNIFIED BOCCE SEKOLAH-SEKOLAH MENENGAH SENEGARA KALI KE-3

TANAH JAMBU – Kementerian Pendidikan melalui Jabatan Pendidikan Khas dengan kerjasama Jabatan Pendidikan Kokurikulum dan Special Olympics Brunei Darussalam (SOBD) pada hari ini telah mengadakan Majlis Penutup Kejohanan Unified Bocce Sekolah-Sekolah Menengah Senegara Kali Ke-3 bertempat di Dewan Bina Diri, Pusat Pembangunan Belia.
Hadir selaku Tetamu Kehormat ialah Yang Mulia Pengiran Dr Mohammad Iskandar bin Pengiran Haji Petra, Pemangku Timbalan Setiausaha Tetap (Dasar dan Korporat), Kementerian Pendidikan.
Kejohanan tersebut bermula pada hari Selasa, 26 Ogos 2025 dan berakhir pada hari ini. Sebanyak 27 buah sekolah menengah kerajaan serta sebuah sekolah menengah swasta telah mengambil bahagian dalam kejohanan ini. Setiap pasukan terdiri daripada lima orang ahli, iaitu empat orang pelajar berkeperluan khas dan seorang tenaga pengajar Program Pra-Vokasional. Secara keseluruhan, seramai 140 peserta telah menyertai kejohanan tersebut
Majlis dimulakan dengan pertandingan peringkat akhir di antara empat buah pasukan diikuti dengan penyampaian sijil penghargaan dan hadiah kepada para pemenang yang disempurnakan oleh Tetamu Kehormat. Pasukan Sekolah Menengah Rimba telah mendapat pingat emas dan dianugerahkan piala pusingan serta piala kemenangan 'Unified Bocce'. Manakala Pasukan Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Umar Al-Khattab menerima pingat perak dan Pasukan Sekolah Menengah Sultan Sharif Ali mendapat pingat gangsa. Hadiah-hadiah saguhati juga telah disampaikan oleh Tetamu Kehormat yang juga turut menyampaikan piala kepada Luqman Hakeem bin Abdullah, Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Umar Al-Khattab, pemain terbaik keseluruhan bagi kejohanan tahun ini.
Antara tujuan kejohanan ini adalah untuk mewujudkan dan memupuk minat serta mencungkil bakat pelajar berkeperluan khas dalam sukan Bocce dan sukan lain secara umum. Selain itu, kejohanan ini juga sebagai salah satu usaha untuk memupuk persahabatan dan pemahaman tentang nilai perbezaan dan kepelbagaian di kalangan pelajar dan masyarakat.
Turut hadir ialah ketua-ketua jabatan dari Kementerian Pendidikan, pegawai-pegawai dari Jabatan Pendidikan Khas, Jabatan Pendidikan Kokurikulum, pemimpin sekolah, guru-guru, serta wakil-wakil dari Pusat Pembangunan Belia, Special Olympics Brunei Darussalam (SOBD) dan Persatuan Volunteer and First Aid Support Team Brunei.
