RUN FOR INCLUSION CHARITY RUN IN CONJUNCTION
WITH
THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF SPECIAL EDUCATION

JERUDONG – The Ministry of Education, through the Department of Special Education in collaboration
with the National Association for the Hearing-Impaired (OKP), today organised the Run for Inclusion
at Jerudong Park Playground, in conjunction with the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of the
Department of Special Education.
Present as the Guest of Honour and officiating the event was Yang Mulia Dr Shamsiah Zuraini
Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin, Permanent Secretary (Core Education), Ministry of Education.
This charity run was organised to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the Department of Special
Education, with the aim of raising public awareness of Special Education and Inclusive Education in a
holistic manner, while also encouraging continuous support for students with special needs. In
addition, the event sought to raise funds to be channelled to the Special Education Fund and the
National Association for the Hearing-Impaired (OKP).
The run comprised three categories: the 1-kilometre ‘Family Fun Walk’ for students with their parents
and guardians, the 3-kilometre ‘Competitive Run’ specifically for students with special needs, and the
5-kilometre ‘Competitive Run’ open to the public.


In addition, participants and members of the public also had the opportunity to take part in a variety
of side activities during the charity run, such as aerobic exercise, sales of merchandise by the
Department of Special Education, as well as sales by invited vendors. All these activities were
organised as part of efforts to increase public awareness of the diverse learning needs in schools.
Also present at the event were Heads of Departments under the Ministry of Education, teachers from
the Department of Special Education, representatives of non-governmental organisations (NGOs)
supporting students with special needs, students with special needs under the supervision of the
Department of Special Education together with their parents and guardians, as well as members of
the public.

JERUDONG – Kementerian Pendidikan melalui Jabatan Pendidikan Khas dengan kerjasama Persatuan
Orang Kurang Pendengaran Kebangsaan (OKP) pada hari ini telah mengadakan ‘Run for Inclusion’
Sempena 30 Tahun Penubuhan Jabatan Pendidikan Khas, bertempat di Jerudong Park Playground.
Hadir selaku Tetamu Kehormat dan seterusnya merasmikan acara tersebut ialah Yang Mulia Pengiran Dr Mohamad Iskandar bin Pengiran Haji Petra, Pemangku Timbalan Setiausaha Tetap (Dasar dan Korporat), Kementerian Pendidikan.
Larian amal ini dianjurkan bersempena Sambutan 30 Tahun Penubuhan Jabatan Pendidikan Khas
dengan tujuan meningkatkan kesedaran orang ramai mengenai Pendidikan Khas dan Pendidikan
Inklusif secara menyeluruh, di samping menggalakkan sokongan berterusan terhadap pelajar
berkeperluan khas. Selain itu, acara ini juga bertujuan mengumpulkan dana yang akan disalurkan
kepada Tabung Pendidikan Khas serta Persatuan Orang Kurang Pendengaran Kebangsaan (OKP).
Larian tersebut dibahagikan kepada tiga kategori, iaitu 1-kilometer ‘Family Fun Walk’ yang melibatkan
pelajar bersama ibu bapa dan penjaga, 3-kilometer ‘Competitive Run’ khusus untuk pelajar
berkeperluan khas, serta 5-kilometer ‘Competitive Run’ yang dibukakan kepada orang awam.
Di samping itu, para peserta dan orang ramai juga boleh mengikuti pelbagai aktiviti semasa larian amal
ini seperti senam aerobic, jualan barangan merchandise Jabatan Pendidikan Khas, dan vendor-vendor
undangan dalam usaha untuk meningkatkan kesedaran awam tentang pelbagai keperluan
pembelajaran di sekolah.
Turut memeriahkan acara tersebut ialah Ketua-Ketua Jabatan di bawah Kementerian Pendidikan, para
guru dari Jabatan Pendidikan Khas, wakil-wakil persatuan badan bukan kerajaan yang memberi
sokongan kepada pelajar berkeperluan khas, pelajar-pelajar berkeperluan khas di bawah seliaan
Jabatan Pendidikan Khas bersama ibu bapa dan penjaga mereka, serta orang awam.
