THE 17TH ASEAN+3 TEACHER WORKSHOP FOR THE GIFTED IN SCIENCE, REPUBLIC OF KOREA

Berakas – The Ministry of Education through the Centre for the Development of Gifted and Talented Education (EDGE), Department of Special Education has coordinated the participation of three students and an officer in the 15th ASEAN+3 Student Camp for the Gifted Science and the 17th ASEAN+3 Teacher Workshop for the Gifted in Science organised by ASEAN+3 Center for the Gifted in Science (ACGS) and supported by The Korean Ministry of Science and ICT as well as Korean Foundation for Science and Creativity (KOSAC). The programme will take place between the 4th to 10th January 2026 at Seoul National University of Education, Seoul, Republic of Korea.​

The three Year 10 students representing Brunei Darussalam are Dayang 'Aliah Zahrah binti Mohamed Fairuz and Dayang Nadia binti Ahmad Sukarni from Jerudong International School and Dayang Hasya Fasiha binti Azrin from International School Brunei. The delegation is accompanied by Yang Mulia Dayang Nor'azali binti Dato Paduka Hj Jumat from Maktab Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien, who is participating as both a teacher and a mentor.

 

The programme themed 'Food for All: The Role and Responsibility of Science for a Sustainable Tomorrow', is an annual event that aimed at bringing together gifted and talented students and teachers in the field of Science and Technology. It provides them with opportunities to collaborate and showcase their skills in a challenging and meaningful environment.

 

During the programme, students will participate in various activities including the Opening Ceremony, listen to the keynote addresses during the Opening Ceremony and attend lectures related to the programme's theme.  They will also take part in a Cross-Country Group Presentations, for which they were assigned pre-programme tasks to be completed collaboratively prior to the event.

 

Concurrently, the 17th ASEAN+3 Teacher Workshop for the Gifted in Science will be held to enhance teachers' pedagogical competencies through a series of professional development activities. These include seminars on global education issues, hands-on workshops on scientific inquiry kits (such as the Da Vinci Science Box), and educational visits, including one to the Gwacheon National Science Museum. During the sharing session, Yang Mulia Dayang Nor'azali binti Dato Paduka Hj Jumat will deliver a presentation on Gifted and Talented Education in Brunei Darussalam.

 

Present at Brunei International Airport to bid farewell to the delegation was Yang Mulia Dr Hajah Mustazah binti Awang Maidin,  Acting Director Special Education, Ministry of Education. Also in attendance were officials from EDGE, parents, and family members of the students.

TIGA PELAJAR DAN SEORANG PEGAWAI MEWAKILI NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

17TH ASEAN+3 TEACHER WORKSHOP FOR THE GIFTED IN SCIENCE DI REPUBLIK KOREA

PADA 4 HINGGA 10 JANUARI 2026

Berakas - Kementerian Pendidikan melalui Pusat Perkembangan Pendidikan Cerdas Pintar dan Berbakat (EDGE), Jabatan Pendidikan Khas telah menyelaras penyertaan bagi tiga orang pelajar dan seorang pegawai untuk menyertai 15th ASEAN+3 Student Camp for the Gifted in Science dan 17th ASEAN+3 Teacher Workshop for the Gifted in Science yang dianjurkan oleh ASEAN+3 Center for the Gifted in Science (ACGS) dan disokong oleh The Korean Ministry of Science and ICT dan Korean Foundation for Science and Creativity (KOSAC). Program ini akan diadakan pada 4 hingga 10 Januari 2026 di Seoul National University of Education, Seoul, Republik Korea. 

 

Tiga pelajar yang mewakili Negara Brunei Darussalam adalah terdiri dari pelajar Tahun 10 dari Jerudong International School Brunei (JIS) iaitu Dayang 'Aliah Zahrah binti Mohamed Fairuz dan Dayang Nadia binti Ahmad Sukarni serta Dayang Hasya Fasiha binti Azrin dari International School Brunei (ISB).  Para delegasi juga disertai oleh Yang Mulia Cikgu Dayang Nor'azali binti Dato Paduka Hj Jumat dari Maktab Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien, selaku peserta (guru) dan mentor.

 

Program yang bertemakan 'Food for All: The Role and Responsibility of Science for a Sustainable Tomorrow' merupakan program tahunan yang bertujuan menghimpunkan pelajar cerdas pintar dan berbakat, yang turut melibatkan para guru dalam bidang Sains dan Teknologi. Program ini memberikan peluang kepada mereka untuk berkerjasama dan mempamerkan kemahiran dalam persekitaran yang mencabar dan bermakna.

Semasa program tersebut, para pelajar akan terlibat dalam pelbagai aktiviti termasuk Majlis Pembukaan, mendengarkan ucaptama semasa Majlis Pembukaan dan juga menghadiri kuliah berkenaan dengan tema program.  Selain itu, pelajar-pelajar akan menyertai Pembentangan Berkumpulan antara negara di mana mereka telah diberikan tugasan pra-program untuk disiapkan secara berkumpulan sebelum program bermula.

Pada masa yang sama, 17th ASEAN+3 Teacher Workshop for the Gifted in Science turut diadakan untuk memperkaya dan meningkatkan kompetensi pedagogi guru melalui bengkel yang merangkumi seminar mengenai isu pendidikan global, bengkel amali yang mendalam mengenai kit inkuiri sains (contoh Da Vinci Science Box), serta lawatan ke Gwacheon National Science Museum.  Semasa sesi kongsisama berkenaan, Yang Mulia Dayang Nor'azali binti Dato Paduka Hj Jumat akan membentangkan mengenai Pendidikan Cerdas Pintar dan Berbakat di Negara Brunei Darussalam.

 

Hadir di Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Brunei bagi mengucapkan selamat belayar ialah Yang Mulia Dr Hajah Mustazah binti Awang Maidin,  Pemangku Pengarah Pendidikan Khas, Kementerian Pendidikan. Turut hadir ialah pegawai-pegawai dari Pusat EDGE, Kementerian Pendidikan dan para ibu bapa serta ahli keluarga pelajar.
