TWO STUDENTS TO REPRESENT BRUNEI DARUSSALAM AT

THE 18TH INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE YOUTH FORUM 2026 (ISYF 2026)

IN THE REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE ON THE 5 TO 9 JANUARY 2026

Berakas –The Ministry of Education through CentrE for the Development of Gifted and Talented Education (EDGE), Department of Special Education has coordinated the participation of two students and an Education officer to participate in the 18th International Science Youth Forum 2026 (ISYF 2026). The forum is organised by Hwa Chong Institution (College Section) and supported by the Ministry of Education, Republic of Singapore, and will be held from 5 to 9 January 2026 at Hwa Chong Institution, Singapore.

The students representing Brunei Darussalam are two Year 12 students under the Special Scholarship Scheme (Pre-University Scholarship Scheme) from Jerudong International School (JIS), Awang Muhammad Ayyub bin Dr. Haji Azlan and Dayang Hamizah Amiira binti Fathul Hakeem. Meanwhile, Yang Mulia Dayang Rozi-Suzanah binti Yatab, Education Officer from the Centre for the Development of Gifted and Talented Education (EDGE), Department of Special Education, will attend as a participant and serve as the supervising teacher for the students.

 

The forum themed “Curiosity Unlocked: How Questions Drive Discovery in the Age of AI", is an annual event aimed at providing a platform for students aged 16 and 17 years to interact with Nobel Laureates and renowned scientists in the field of science.

 

The forum is also organised to enrich and enhance teachers' pedagogical competencies through sharing session and visit to the National University of Singapore, Science Centre Singapore as well as Art and Science Museum. Through the Dialogues and Masterclass Sessions with Nobel Prize winners, scientists and experts in the field of science, closer relationships and collaboration among educators can be strengthened in the future.

 

During the forum, participants will have the opportunity to participate in activities such as Dialogues and Masterclass Sessions, Science Quest, Singapore Discovery Trail, Cultural Exhibition as well as Poster Exhibition. Additionally, the students representing Brunei Darussalam will present their project proposal titles 'An Investigation into AI-Based Optimisation of Front Wing Geometry for Drag Reduction' during the Poster Exhibition Session.

Present at Brunei International Airport to bid farewell to the delegation was Yang Mulia Dr Hajah Mustazah binti Awang Maidin,  Acting Director Special Education, Ministry of Education. Also in attendance were officials from EDGE, parents, and family members of the students.

DUA PELAJAR MEWAKILI NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

KE 18TH INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE YOUTH FORUM 2026 (ISYF 2026)

DI REPUBLIK SINGAPURA PADA 5 HINGGA 9 JANUARI 2026

Berakas - Kementerian Pendidikan melalui Pusat Perkembangan Pendidikan Cerdas Pintar dan Berbakat (EDGE), Jabatan Pendidikan Khas telah menyelaras penyertaan bagi dua orang pelajar dan seorang pegawai pelajaran untuk menyertai 18th International Science Youth Forum 2026 (ISYF 2026). Forum ini dianjurkan oleh Hwa Chong Institution (College Section) dengan sokongan dari Kementerian Pendidikan, Republik Singapura yang akan diadakan pada 5 hingga 9 Januari 2026 di Hwa Chong Institution, Republik Singapura.

 

Pelajar-pelajar yang mewakili Negara Brunei Darussalam adalah terdiri dari dua orang pelajar Tahun 12 di bawah Skim Biasiswa Khas Dalam Negeri (Skim Biasiswa Pra Universiti) di Jerudong International School (JIS) iaitu Awang Muhammad Ayyub bin Dr. Haji Azlan dan Dayang Hamizah Amiira binti Fathul Hakeem. Manakala Yang Mulia Dayang Rozi-Suzanah binti Yatab, Pegawai Pelajaran dari Pusat Perkembangan Pendidikan Cerdas Pintar dan Berbakat (EDGE), Jabatan Pendidikan Khas akan menyertai selaku peserta dan guru pengawas kepada para pelajar berkenaan. 

 

Forum yang bertemakan 'Curiosity Unlocked: How Questions Drive Discovery in the Age of AI' merupakan forum tahunan yang bertujuan untuk menyediakan platform bagi pelajar-pelajar yang berumur 16 dan 17 tahun untuk berinteraksi dengan penerima Hadiah Nobel (Nobel Laureates) dan Saintis terkemuka dalam bidang sains.

 

Forum turut diadakan untuk memperkaya dan meningkatkan kecekapan pedagogi guru melalui sesi kongsisama dan lawatan, antaranya ke National University of Singapore, Science Centre Singapore serta Art and Science Museum. Melalui sesi Dialogues and Masterclass Sessions bersama penerima Hadiah Nobel, para saintis terkenal dan pakar dalam bidang sains dapat meningkatkan hubungan rapat dan kerjasama antara pendidik di masa hadapan.

Semasa forum, para peserta berpeluang untuk menyertai aktiviti seperti Dialog dan Masterclass Sessions, Science Quest, Singapore Discovery Trail, Cultural Exhibition dan Pameran Poster (Poster Exhibition).  Di samping itu, pelajar-pelajar yang mewakili Negara Brunei Darussalam akan membentangkan poster penyelidikan mereka yang bertajuk 'An Investigation into AI-Based Optimisation of Front Wing Geometry for Drag Reduction' semasa sesi Pameran Poster.

 

Hadir di Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Brunei bagi mengucapkan selamat belayar ialah Yang Mulia Dr Hajah Mustazah binti Awang Maidin,  Pemangku Pengarah Pendidikan Khas, Kementerian Pendidikan. Turut hadir ialah pegawai-pegawai dari Pusat EDGE, Kementerian Pendidikan dan para ibu bapa serta ahli keluarga pelajar.
