BERAKAS – The Brunei Darussalam Schools Sports Council (MS SSBD) contingent has returned to the country after participating in the 13th ASEAN Schools Sports Championship (ASG-13) for 2024 which took place in Da Nang, Vietnam today.


Present at the Brunei International Airport to welcome the arrival of the MS SSBD contingent was Yang Mulia Awang Mohammad Norilham bin Haji Jais, Acting Director of Co-Curricular Education.


Upon arrival, the recitation of the Doa Kesyukuran was led by Yang Mulia Awang Muhammad Zainuddin Shah bin Talip.

 

The contingent of MS SSBD was comprised of 33 student athletes and 23 officials led by Yang Mulia Awang Julaihi bin Haji Mohamad / Mohamat, Director of Co-curriculum Education as Chef-de-Mission.

MS SSBD participated in five (5) sports such as Swimming, Athletics, Basketball, Badminton, and Pencak Silat. This year was the 12th participation by MS SSBD since 2009 and it is an annual program in the MS SSBD and the Department of Co-curriculum Education's calendar.

 

In this year's event, the student's athletes won two medals which are a Silver and a Bronze medal from Awang Md Azinuddin bin Md Azree in Pencak Silat Tanding Category C (Boy) and Dayang Nursyakirah Mawaddah binti Mohd Fauzi in Pencak Silat Seni Tunggal Puteri respectively.

MS SSBD student athletes also managed to achieve an achievement of breaking the National Record (9:48.21s) in Athletics (3000M) by Awang Abdullah Abbas bin Awang Abdullah with a time of 9:41.92s. Meanwhile, in swimming, Dayang Hayley Wong Ann Yue broke the National Record (28.07s) in the Freestyle Swimming event (50M) with a time of 27.94s and the joint holder of the National Record (1:19.74s) in the Breaststroke Swimming (100M).

 

Also present at the airport were officers from the Department of Co-curriculum Education, Ministry of Education and parents of the student athletes of MS SSBD.

SELAMAT KEMBALI KE TANAH AIR SELEPAS MENGIKUTI  

KEJOHANAN SUKAN SEKOLAH-SEKOLAH ASEAN KALI KE-13

Berakas – Kontinjen Majlis Sukan Sekolah-Sekolah Brunei Darussalam (MS SSBD) telah selamat kembali ke tanahair selepas menyertai Kejohanan Sukan Sekolah-Sekolah ASEAN Ke-13 (ASEAN School Games-13, ASG13) bagi tahun 2024 yang telah berlangsung di Da Nang, Vietnam pada hari ini.


Hadir di Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Brunei bagi menyambut ketibaan para kontinjen ialah Yang Mulia Awang Mohammad Norilham bin Haji Jais, Penolong Pengarah, Jabatan Pendidikan Kokurikulum, Kementerian Pendidikan.


Semasa ketibaan, bacaan Doa Kesyukuran telah diketuai oleh Yang Mulia Awang Muhammad Zainuddin Shah bin Talip.

 

Kontinjen MS SSBD terdiri daripada 56 orang, iaitu 33 orang atlet-pelajar dan 23 orang pegawai yang diketuai oleh Yang Mulia Awang Julaihi bin Mohamad / Mohamat, Pengarah Pendidikan Kokurikulum selaku Chef-de-Mission Kontinjen MS SSBD. MS SSBD telah menyertai lima (5) acara sukan iaitu Badminton, Bola Keranjang, Olahraga, Renang, dan Pencak Silat. Tahun ini merupakan penyertaan kali ke-12 sejak kejohanan ini dianjurkan pada tahun 2009.

 

Pada kejohanan tahun ini, MS SSBD telah berjaya mengutip dua pingat iaitu satu pingat Perak melalui Awang Md Azinuddin bin Md Azree dalam sukan Pencak Silat Tanding Kelas C Putera dan satu pingat Gangsa melalui Dayang Nursyakirah Mawaddah binti Mohd Fauzi dalam sukan Pencak Silat Seni Tunggal Puteri.

 

Selain itu, beberapa orang atlet-pelajar juga berjaya memecahkan rekod kebangsaan dalam acara masing-masing. Antaranya ialah Awang Abdullah Abbas bin Abdullah yang telah berjaya memecahkan rekod kebangsaan dalam acara Olahraga 3000M dengan catatan masa 9:41.92s  (rekod sebelum ini adalah 9:48.21s). Manakala dalam sukan renang pula, Dayang Hayley Wong Ann Yue telah berjaya memecahkan rekod kebangsaan dalam acara Renang Gaya Bebas (50M) dengan catatan masa 27.94s (rekod masa sebelum ini adalah 28.07s) dan pemegang bersama rekod kebangsaan dalam acara Kuak Dada 100M dengan catatan masa 1:19.74s.

 

Turut hadir di Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa ialah pegawai-pegawai dari Jabatan Pendidikan Kokurikulum, Kementerian Pendidikan dan para ahli keluarga atlet-pelajar.
