SIX STUDENTS REPRESENTING BRUNEI DARUSSALAM AT
THE 10TH ASEAN PLUS THREE JUNIOR SCIENCE ODYSSEY (APTJSO-10)

BERAKAS – The Ministry of Education today coordinated the participation for the Brunei Darussalam delegation consisting of six Year 10 students as well as two supervisory teachers and two officers from the Centre for the Development of Gifted and Talented Education (EDGE), Ministry of Education for the 10th ASEAN Plus Three Junior Science Odyssey programme (APTJSO-10). This programme is organised by the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI), Cambodia, in collaboration with the ASEAN+3 Centre for the Gifted in Science (ACGS) and supported by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which will be held in Siem Reap, Cambodia from 22 to 26 July 2024.
The Brunei Darussalam delegation is divided into two teams, namely Team A which consists of Awang Nu'man bin Lamun, Dayang Noor Izatol Syafiqah binti Haji Saiami and Dayang Barizah Alya Syasya binti Haji Romi Irwin, students of Jerudong International School (JIS), accompanied by Awang Hafiz Aizuddin bin Haji Ansanawi, the Supervising Teacher and Mentor from Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Ali. Meanwhile, Team B consists of Awang Zayyan Aaryan bin Noorhadzrin, Dayang Alya Irdina binti Muhammad Shahmun Azimin and Dayang Sharifah Ayesha Al-Insyirah binti Shaikh Sharul Azhar, students of International School Brunei (ISB), accompanied by Dayang Nurul Faizah binti Ya'akub, the Supervising Teacher and Mentor from Sekolah Menengah Berakas. While officers from EDGE participating in this programme are Dayang Rozi-Suzanah binti Yatab as the Secretariat representative and Dayang Lunayati binti Tuah as the Head of Delegation and Liaison Officer for this programme.
Each team has been assigned the initial task of creating a 3-minute video based on this year's APTJSO theme, "Racing Up Against Climate Change," to be competed during APTJSO-10. Through the programme, the delegation will have the opportunity to participate in activities such as the programme orientation; lectures; Meet and Talk with Scientists; lab experiment and assessment; group presentation; educational visits and cultural exchanges.
The APTJSO is an annual programme that targets students between the age of 13 to 15 from the ASEAN+3 countries. This programme also aims to encourage and challenge the participants in their scientific and technological intellectual abilities, as well as to stimulate a sense of curiosity through hands-on experience of interesting experiments and studies. The participation of the Ministry of Education, Brunei Darussalam in this programme was coordinated by the Centre for the Development of Gifted and Talented Education (EDGE).

BERAKAS – Kementerian Pendidikan pada hari ini telah menyelaras penyertaan delegasi Negara Brunei Darussalam yang terdiri daripada enam orang pelajar Tahun 10 serta dua orang guru pengawas dan dua orang pegawai Pusat Perkembangan Pendidikan Cerdas Pintar dan Berbakat (EDGE), Kementerian Pendidikan bagi program The 10th ASEAN Plus Three Junior Science Odyssey (APTJSO-10). Program berkenaan dianjurkan oleh Kementerian Industri, Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi (MISTI), Kemboja dengan kerjasama ASEAN+3 Centre for the Gifted in Science (ACGS) dan disokong oleh Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) akan diadakan di Siem Reap, Kemboja bermula 22 hingga 26 Julai 2024.
Penyertaan bagi delegasi Negara Brunei Darussalam dibahagikan kepada dua pasukan iaitu Pasukan A, terdiri daripada Awang Nu'man bin Lamun, Dayang Noor Izatol Syafiqah binti Haji Saiami dan Dayang Barizah Anya Syasya binti Haji Romi Irwin, pelajar-pelajar Jerudong International School (JIS) yang diiringi oleh Awang Hafiz Aizuddin bin Haji Ansanawi, Guru Pengawas selaku Mentor daripada Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Ali. Manakala Pasukan B terdiri daripada Awang Zayyan Aaryan bin Noorhadzrin, Dayang Alya Irdina binti Muhammad Shahmun Azimin dan Dayang Sharifah Ayesha Al-Insyirah binti Shaikh Sharul Azhar, pelajar-pelajar International School Brunei (ISB) yang diiringi oleh Dayang Nurul Faizah binti Ya'akub, Guru Pengawas selaku Mentor daripada Sekolah Menengah Berakas. Sementara pegawai-pegawai daripada EDGE yang menyertai program ini ialah Dayang Rozi-Suzanah binti Yatab selaku wakil Sekretariat dan Dayang Lunayati binti Tuah selaku Ketua Delegasi dan Pegawai Penghubung bagi program ini.
Setiap pasukan telah diberi tugasan awal untuk menghasilkan video yang berdurasi 3 minit berpandukan kepada tema APTJSO tahun ini iaitu 'Racing Up Against Climate Change' untuk dipertandingkan semasa di APTJSO-10 nanti. Melalui program ini, semua delegasi akan berpeluang untuk menyertai aktiviti seperti program orientasi; kuliah; Meet and Talk With Scientists; eksperimen dan penilaian makmal; pembentangan secara berkumpulan; lawatan sambil belajar dan pertukaran budaya.
APTJSO merupakan program tahunan yang mensasarkan pelajar-pelajar cerdas pintar yang berumur antara 13 hingga 15 tahun dari negara-negara ASEAN+3. Program ini juga bertujuan untuk menggalakkan dan mencabar peserta dalam keupayaan intelek sains dan teknologi mereka, serta untuk merangsang rasa ingin tahu melalui pengalaman praktikal mengenai eksperimen dan kajian yang menarik. Penyertaan Kementerian Pendidikan, Negara Brunei Darussalam bagi program ini telah diselaraskan oleh Pusat Perkembangan Pendidikan Cerdas Pintar dan Berbakat (EDGE).
