Temburong, Monday, 07 January 2019 - Yang Berhormat Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman, Minister of Education has conducted a working visit to several schools in Temburong District this morning.
The Minister of Education and delegation went to visit Sekolah Rendah Rataie, Sekolah Rendah Sultan Hassan and Sekolah Menegah Sultan Hassan. The primary schools visited are Centre of Excellence schools (COE) in Special Education this year. These are pioneer schools in effort to improve education services to special needs students in the country. Meanwhile, focus was given on the temporary placements of the students and teachers as well as visiting the site for the new school at the Secondary School.
a. Sekolah Rendah Rataie, Bokok.
The first location visited by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman today is Sekolah Rendah Rataie, Mukim Bokok. The arrival of Yang Berhormat Minister of Education was welcomed by Yang Mulia, Cikgu Rohayati binti Haji Abdul Kadir, the school headmistress. During the visit, the Minister of Education visited facilities of the Centre of Excellence (COE) Inclusive Education as Sekolah Rendah Rataie is one of the pioneer schools for Centre of Excellence (COE) in the country.
Among the focus of the visit is to learn more about the facilities for special needs students, schools infrastructure as well as the needs of teaching staff. As the pilot school of Centre of Excellence in special education, the school experience can contribute towards establishing good Centre of Excellence across the country.
The Centre of Excellence in special education in this school is equipped with Learning Assistance Centre (LAC) room for students with special needs in hearing, vision and Down syndrome. A total of 9 special needs students are now using the Centre of Excellence in the school.
While there, the Minister of Education also had the opportunity to visit pre-school, year 4 and year 4 classes as well as reviewing the school facilities.
Sekolah Rendah Rataie has 244 students and 24 teachers with 10 support staff. The school commenced operations in 2014.
b. Sekolah Rendah Sultan Hassan, Bangar
From Sekolah Rendah Rataie, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman and the delegation headed to Sekolah Rendah Sultan Hassan Bangar where they were welcomed by Yang Mulia Cikgu Vivi Hairani binti Haji Judin, the school's headmistress. The visit started by reviewing the renovation of the school building to cater to the special needs students.
The Minister of Education also focusses on the first day of the Operational Excellence Centre for Special Education, the Audio Visual Room that is located at the library for now . The Minister of Education also had the opportunity to visit pre-school class that started their first day of school today as well as the teachers' staffroom.
Sekolah Rendah Rataie and Sekolah Rendah Sultan Hassan are schools selected as the first Centre of Excellence for Special Needs students in the country. This is a step towards pioneering efforts to establish Centre of Excellence in other districts.
c. Sekolah Menegah Sultan Hassan, Bangar
The Minister of Education continued his working visit to Sekolah Menegah Sultan Hassan in Bangar. Upon arrival, the Minister was greeted by Yang Mulia, Cikgu Abdul Wafi Sia bin Abdullah Sia, the school's Principal.
Some of the focus of the visit is the facilities for pra-vocational students as well as the temporary current school site.
Sekolah Menegah Sultan Hassan is the only secondary school in Temburong district with 678 students and 82 teachers. The school was established in 1962. With the plan to move the school to a new location, the Minister of Education went to visit the new site of Sekolah Menengah Sultan Hassan.
Prior ending the working visit, the Minister of Education also took the opportunity to survey the conditions of flats for teachers in Bangar including building maintenance matters for the welfare of teachers living in the buildings.
Also attended was Yang Mulia Dr. Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin, Permanent Secretary (Core Education); Yang Mulia Awang Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Core Education); several Head of Department and senior officials of the Ministry of Education.

Temburong, Hari Isnin, 07 Januari 2019 - Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman, Menteri Pendidikan pada pagi ini telah mengadakan lawatan kerja ke Daerah Temburong.
Lawatan kerja Yang Berhormat Menteri Pendidikan pada kali ini adalah bagi meninjau keadaan di Sekolah Rendah Rataie, Sekolah Rendah Sultan Hassan dan Sekolah Menengah Menengah Sultan Hassan. Sekolah-sekolah rendah yang dilawat pada hari ini merupakan sekolah-sekolah yang memulakan Pusat Kecemerlangan dalam pendidikan khas mulai tahun ini. Ini juga merupakan usaha rintis Kementerian Pendidikan dalam mempertingkatkan lagi perkhidmatan pendidikan bagi anak-anak berkeperluan khas. Di sekolah menengah yang dilawati pagi ini, tumpuan diberikan kepada status penempatan sementara pelajar-pelajar dan guru-guru serta melawat tapak baru Sekolah Menengah Sultan Hassan.
a. Sekolah Rendah Rataie, Bokok.
Lokasi pertama yang dikunjungi Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman hari ini adalah Sekolah Rengah Rataei, Mukim Bokok. Ketibaan Yang Berhormat Menteri Pendidikan beserta rombongan dialu-alukan oleh Yang Mulia, Cikgu Rohayati binti Haji Abdul Kadir, Guru Besar Sekolah berkenaan. Ketika berada di Sekolah, Yang Berhormat Menteri Pendidikan dibawa melawat fasiliti-fasiliti Pusat Kecemerlangan Pendidikan Inklusif dimana Sekolah Rendah Rataie merupakansalah sebuah sekolah rintis Centre of Excellence (COE) di Negara ini.
Antara fokus lawatan adalah bagi mengetahui lebih lanjut mengenai kemudahan pelajar-pelajar berkeperluan khas, prasarana sekolah dan keperluan tenaga pengajar. Sebagai inisiatif rintis dalam penubuhan Pusat Kecemerlangan dalam pendidikan khas, pengalaman sekolah ini nanti akan menjadi penyumbang besar ke arah Penubunhan pusat kecemerlangan yang lebih baik seumpamanya di seluruh Negara.
Pusat Kecemerlangan pendidikan khas di sekolah ini dilengkapi bilik Learning Assistance Centre (LAC) bagi keperluan khas pendengaran, keperluan khas penglihatan dan down syndrome. Seramai 9 orang pelajar berkeperluan khas menggunakan khidmat Pusat Kecemerlangan di sekolah ini.
Semasa berada di sekolah tersebut, Yang Berhormat Menteri Pendidikan juga berkesempatan melawat kelas pra, tahun 4 dan tahun 6 serta meninjau fasiliti sekolah.
Sekolah Rendah Rataie mempunyai 244 pelajar dan 24 tenaga pengajar dengan dibantu oleh 10 kakitangan sokongan. Sekolah ini mula beroperasi pada tahun 2014.
b. Sekolah Rendah Sultan Hassan, Bangar
Dari Sekolah Rendah Rataie, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman dan rombongan beredar menuju ke Sekolah Rendah Sultan Hassan, Bangar di mana Yang Berhormat Menteri Pendidikan dialu-alukan oleh Yang Mulia, Cikgu Vivi Hairani binti Haji Judin, Guru Besar sekolah. Lawatan Yang Berhormat Menteri Pendidikan ke sekolah dimulakan dengan meninjau projek penambah baikan bangunan sekolah bagi menampung keperluan pelajar-pelajar bekeperluan khas.
Yang Berhormat Menteri Pendidikan turut memberi tumpuan kepada hari pertama operasi Pusat Kecemerlangan bagi Pendidikan Khas, Audio Visual Room yang pada masa ini diadakan di dalam bangunan perpustakaan. Yang Berhormat Menteri juga berkesempatan melawat kelas pra sekolah yang memulakan hari persekolahan mereka hari ini dan juga bilik guru-guru.
Sekolah Rendah Rataie dan Sekolah Rendah Sultan Hassan merupakan sekolah rintis Pusat Kecemerlangan (Centre of Excellence) bagi pendidikan khas di Negara ini. Ini merupakan usaha kementerian bagi penubuhan pusat-pusat kecemerlangan yang sama di daerah lain.
c. Sekolah Menengah Sultan Hassan, Bangar
Yang Berhormat Menteri Pendidikan seterusnyamelanjutkan lawatan kerja ke Sekolah Menengah Sultan Hassan di Pekan Bangar. Sejurus tiba di sekolah ini, Yang Berhormat disambut oleh Yang Mulia, Ckg. Abdul Wafi Sia bin Abdullah Sia, Pengetua Sekolah berkenaan.
Antara yang menjadi fokus Yang Berhormat Menteri Pendidikan di sekolah ini adalah kemudahan bagi pelajar pra-vokasiol termasuklah tapak sementara sekolah yang sedang digunakan pada masa ini.
Sekolah Menengah Sultan Hassan merupakan satu-satunya sekolah menengah di daerah Temburong dengan keramaian pelajar seramai 678 orang dan 82 tenaga pengajar. Sekolah ini ditubuhkan pada tahun 1962. Dengan perancangan bagi perpindahan sekolah berkenaan ke lokasi yang baru, Yang Berhormat Menteri Pendidikan seterusnya beredar melawat tapak baru Sekolah Menengah Sultan Hassan.
Sebelum mengakhiri lawatan kerja ke Temburong, Yang Berhormat Menteri Pendidikan juga mengambil kesempatan meninjau keadaan flat kediaman Guru di Bangar termasuk hal ehwal pemuliharaan bangunan bagi memeduli kesejahteraan guru-guru yang mendiami bangunan berkenaan.
Turut menyertai rombongan Yang Mulia Dr. Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin, Setiausaha Tetap (Pendidikan Teras) dan Yang Mulia Awang Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahma, Timbalan Setiausaha Tetap (Pendidikan Teras), beberapa Ketua Jabatan dan pegawai-pegawai kanan Kementerian Pendidikan yang lainnya.
